Yemen Heaven

Yemen Heaven is a restaurant on Walmgate in York, serving Yemeni cuisine under the direction of Chef Muna. Its food brings together slow-cooked dishes, hand-stretched breads and aromatic spices. The photography needed to communicate the character of this cooking and give the restaurant a cohesive collection of images for its communications.

I focused on the food itself: the texture of bread, the richness of sauces and the detail of each dish. Carefully considered lighting and composition give the images a consistent feel while allowing the different colours and ingredients to stand out. The resulting photography presents the dishes with clarity and warmth, creating a visual introduction to the restaurant and its cooking.
